Enjoy a new monthly culinary series hosted at Hanks House which will based on creating the perfect Valentine’s Day Dinner. Chef Shawn Weed will kick off the series with a hands on cooking event which you’re sure to enjoy.

Test Machining Chocolate Slabs

December 12th

Though Hanks House usually machines wood and other materials for kitchens, we’re going to start machining something that belongs on the other side of the kitchen! We will start running tests to machine chocolate slabs in our CNC machine.

These chocolate slabs will be put on display at this year’s Chocolate and Coffee Festival. Interesting in seeing our work so far? We’ll be posting videos and pictures here soon!

Yet again, we had a showroom full of people who were enjoying watching Pampered Chef demonstrations in our live kitchens. We’re still collecting photos to post, but we had a great time and even had jewelry available from the Silpada Sterling Silver Jewelry .

Gildan Green Chile Stew Contest

We had a great time hosting the Gildan Green Chile Stew Contest. Besides having tons of guests and fun in our live kitchens, we got a chance to have a great time with Cumulous Radio group here in Albuquerque. Here’s a summary of all the events, and if you have pictures you’d like posted from the event, contact us here.

Contest Dates:

• First Round – December 3rd from 1:00-4:00 PM
• Second Round – December 4th from 1:00-4:00pm
• Continuing Rounds - December 6th through the 8th from 5:00-8:00pm
• Final Competition (Places etc. decided and prizes awarded )- December 10th from 1:00-4:00 pm

First round of the Gildan Green Chile Stew contest to promote the 2011 Gildan New Mexico Bowl is hosted at Hanks House on December 3rd.

Other Details:

• All contest dates are open to the public
• Contest winner will have their recipe produced and sold at the Bowl game.
• Winner gets tickets to the game and donates prize big money to the High School of their choice
• We are using our main live kitchen for the final round and have built 5 cooking islands in a furniture style to facilitate the contest.
• The additional cooking islands will give us the ability to pursue hands on cooking classes with local talented chefs.

Nob Hill Shop and Stroll

We’re proud to have installed two islands in the window of the A-Store in Nob Hill. Jennifer James from Jennifer James 101, who won the Best of City: Chef, this November, cooked for the store shoppers and two “comunity tables”. The A-store also had a jazz group playing for the evening.

The food was exceptional, and despite the weather (50mph winds and 35 degrees), the store was packed.
